Somali Chess federation has launched a sophisticated bilingual website www.somchess.com, as this step lead the federation to become the first Somali national federation to approach such progress.

The website had first been launched in 2005 but at that time it was only printed in Somali language and currently it is made an international and very sophisticated website.

Somali Chess federation president Dr. Ahmed Abdi Hassan "Wataac" told that the website will broadcast both national and international news, views, comments and interviews from around the world.

"Since we cannot afford to have our own reporters out side Somalia, our website will quote the news and comments from international news agencies and Fide member federations' websites and other global sources" replied Somali Chess federation President Dr. Ahmed Abdi Hassan when asked about how their website will get the international chess news.

"We are very Proud of what we are doing, because we have reached a tangible progress and our federation is the first in the lawless Somalia to ever possess such website" said Somali chess federation President Dr. Wataac once again.

The launching of this website coincides with days after when Somali Chess federation President succeed to persuade Somali schools managers to include chess-related lessons in schools academics from this year.

"For the last three weeks we have been meeting with Principles of 50 primary, intermediate and secondary schools and we have finally reached a common understanding on the issue"the president added.

The President thanked Somali sports press association for helping to establish such website and the continuation of its work.

Founded in late 2001 and internationally recognized in February 2002, and member of Somali NOC the Somali chess federation is currently one of the leading national federations and has already succeed to spread the game in all over Somali regions and districts.
