President of international chess in schools commission Prof. Uvencio Blanco, has congratulated Somali chess federation on the good job it is doing in the lawless Somalia.

“As chairman of the Commission on Chess in Schools FIDE, I am pleased to congratulate you on the incorporation of the chess curriculum of the schools in Somalia” said Prof. Uvencio Blancoin in his e-mail message to Somali chess federation president.

”This is the kind of action that FIDE welcomes and encourages” once again said President of international chess in schools commission Prof. Uvencio Blanco.

The president sent his best wishes to all Somalis and in particular to those who are involved in developing chess in schools activities in all over Somalia.

The congratulatory message from Prof. Uvencio Blanco comes as Somali chess federation president Dr. Ahmed Abdi Hassan “Wataac” and managers of 50 primary, intermediate and secondary schools have reached a common understanding on the issue of introducing chess-related lessons into the schools academics from mid this year.
